We often receive requests for musical entertainment for events or ceremonies. We're happy to accommodate these requests as we're able! Please read the following first to understand how we might be able to work together, and then e-mail Eliza Rubenstein (erubenstein@occ.cccd.edu) with your inquiry.
- Understand that musicians (especially students who haven't had years to build their repertoire) need at least a few weeks to find, learn, and practice music, so the more advance notice you give us, the better!
- While we're glad to try to provide music on a volunteer basis for on-campus events or certain nonprofit causes, it's generally expected that performers will be paid for private or corporate events. Keep in mind that most of our students have jobs, full class schedules, and/or families to care for, and many rely on public transportation, so it actually costs them money to participate in events outside of school. A good ballpark rate to budget for is $100 per performer per hour. (Professional entertainers usually charge significantly more than this!)
- When you contact us, please include....
* complete details about the date, time, and duration of the event
* address and venue details
* description of on-site keyboard and sound system, plus any other information about the audio set-up
* description of your event (e.g., organization name, size of audience, etc.)
* type of performer you desire (e.g., pianist, guitarist, vocalist, vocal quartet, etc.)
* style and genre of music you desire
* pay rate offered for the event
