When to Apply

Anytime!  The Math Center, Writing & Humanities Tutoring Center and Science Engineering Tutoring Center hires tutors throughout the semester based on student demand. If there is no current need for the subject you want to tutor, you are still encouraged to fill out an application. There may be a need for your subject later in the semester.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3.0 GPA
  • B or A grade in classes to be tutored
  • Recommendation from instructor for each subject area
  • Copy of transcripts (unofficial)
  • Approximately 10 hours minimum per week commitment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Friendly, patient, dependable with strong work ethic
  • Organized and able to complete tasks on time
New tutors will complete TUTR 090N & TUTR 091N (Tutor Training) during their first semester. Students who pass both classes will receive a Certificate of Completion in Tutoring Skills and Strategies. The class may be waived for applicants with advanced degrees and experience at the discretion of the Center Coordinator.
