Respondus consists of multiple applications:

• Respondus - a powerful Windows application allowing instructors to design quizzes offline or import quizzes from Word or Excel to Canvas Quiz.
• Respondus Lockdown Browser - a powerful tool to lockdown test-takers' computer systems from browsing outside of Canvas and the quiz.  This only works on Windows, Mac, iPad, and Chromebook.  Faculty will need to complete the setup within Canvas.
• Respondus Proctor (formerly Monitor) - allows faculty to use webcams to record the test taker and the area of the test. Proctoring also allows the faculty to take a snapshot of the school ID and a profile picture of the student before the exam.  This only works on Windows, Mac, iPad, and Chromebook.  Faculty will need to complete the setup within Canvas.

Tips from IIC and the Library Media Crew:

1. It is always recommended you take exams on a computer and not on mobile devices (smartphones)
2. For best performance, use Chrome or Firefox.  DO NOT use Safari or Edge/Internet Explorer
3. Be sure to have the latest version of the browsers
4. Be sure to have your operating systems up to date
5. Be sure that pop-up blockers are disabled
6. For best performance, before taking your exams, clear your browser cache
